Sahitya Sabha in short KBSS. The site
was launched on 28th May 2008 at
Sukanta Academy Auditorium in a cultural
festival and Poet meet organized on the eve. of
37th Session and conference, by
K.V.Jamatia, Registrar to Tripura University.
Kokborok Sahitya Sabha (KBSS) formed on 8th
October 1972, under the leadership of
Lt.Alindralal Tripura. Since then, KBSS is
struggling for the development of Indigenous
people of Tripura (Twipra).
Now KBSS has its well-equipped office in the
Agartala, the capital City of the state.
OUR AIMS AND
OBJECTS
The aims and objects
of the Organisation shall be as under: -
1.
To
work for the development of languages,
particularly the ‘Kokborok’ language in the
State of Tripura.
2.
To
preserve, promote and development of
socio-cultural heritage, history and tradition
of the ‘BOROK’ community as a whole in the State
of Tripura.
(EXPLANATION: The
‘BOROK’ community includes entire group of
Kokborok speaking people and all allied
communities of the greater ‘BODO’ or ‘BORO’
linguistic people and similar linguistics
communities/groups in India or elsewhere in the
globe.)
3.
To
communicate, research work and make relationship
in terms of linguistic history, social and
traditional exchanges between the entire
families of the BODO/BORO/BOROK communities as a
whole.
4.
To
study and research works on Kokborok and to
publish books, newspapers, periodicals,
souvenirs etc.
5.
To
organize seminars, meetings, workshops,
awareness programmes, conventions etc. relating
to issue of development of languages, language
policies and in search of relationship between
the entire BODO/BORO/BOROK families or in any
other matters in the interest of the people or
public policy.
6.
To
encourage and organize the production of
documentations, films or documentary films,
audio-video films etc.
7.
To
produce, direct and perform of dramas, cultural
programmes, entertainments and any other
communicating programmes.
8.
To
acquire by purchase or lease or otherwise, lands
and buildings and other properties movable or
immovable as the Organisation from time to time
may think fit for the welfare of the members of
the Organisation.
9.
To
accept, bequeath, gift, grant or endowment for
the attainment of the objects of the
Organisation.
10.
To
organize and undertake training in Kokborok
language, Kokborok spelling method,

Kokborok couching, folk and modern songs of
Kokborok, instrumental music training etc. for
the welfare of the nation as well as the members
of the Organisation.
To do all other
things as may be conducive or incidental to the
attainment of all or any of the aims and
objects.
KBSS is collaborating with many institutions
like CIIL, Human Resource department of the
central Institute in developing the language.
KBSS has also brotherly relations between other
literary groups in the country specially the
Bodo groups in the North east India.
